Community Remix Funnier Than Show

Because it is still young I am keeping Community in the "giving it a shot" pile but unless it picks up the funny its going to quickly get kicked off my Tivo list.  It's not a good sign that a music video remix is funnier than anything thats been on the show thus far, though.

Best title for a song...

The 2009 DMC World Champion - DJ Shiftee

Every year, the world’s greatest turntablists meet up to show off an unreal arsenal of scratching, beat juggling, and other tricks of the trade that may catapult them into the coveted position of DMC World Champion. Past winners include DJ royalty such as Roc Raida, Q-Bert, Craze, A-Trak, and many others. This year, the winner comes from none other than New York, in the form of Harvard mathematician/party rocker, DJ Shiftee. He represents a newer breed and style of eclectic DJ that is becoming more and more pervasive throughout the culture.

Known for his geeky sense of humor, disciplined practice schedule, and creativity, Shiftee aka Sam Zornow, has crafted masterful and well thought out sets that have helped him a acquire a DJ resume that not only includes his most recent win, but also a 2007 World Supremacy DMC title and 2008 IDA World Final champ.

Check out the demo he did for Traktor Scratch to give you an idea of both his skills and quirky personality.

Armand Van Helden x A-Trak (Duck Sauce) - "aNYway"

Duck Sauce is the new musical partnership between DJ/party rocker A-Trak and legendary electronic producer Armand Van Helden. “Anyway” is the 1st single off their upcoming EP due out in October on Fool’s Gold (A-Trak’s record label alongside partner Nick Catchdubs). It’s a clever homage to old school performance shows such as Soul Train and the Ed Sullivan show that plays on the disco and house roots that the new Duck Sauce project centers around.

Alice In Chains Release “Stripped” Acoustic Performance Videos

Alice in Chains have just released three videos from their Clear Channel “Stripped” performance in New York City. The player contains videos of acoustic renditions of “Check My Brain”, “Your Decision”, and the classic “No Excuses”.  The band's new album Black Gives Way to Blue is out now.

Soundgarden quietly reunites at Pearl Jam show

By the end of Pearl Jam’s the other night in Los Angeles, what had started out as a standard show for the band turned into a full-on grunge-era reunion show. To begin with, former Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell joined Pearl Jam—whose current drummer, Matt Cameron, played in Soundgarden—on stage to perform “Hunger Strike,” a song by supergroup Temple of the Dog. That band was a tribute to former Mother Love Bone vocalist Andrew Wood, who died of a heroin overdose in 1990, and featured all of the musicians who performed together last night.

Were that not reunion enough, Cornell and Cameron’s fellow Soundgarden bandmates, guitarist Kim Thayil and bassist Ben Shepherd, showed up to watch, making this the first time in 13 years that all four members have appeared together publically. The news is sure to spark rumors of a reunion, since Cornell has been solo again since Audioslave’s split. This was not the end of the grunge-era festivities, though, as fellow Seattleite and Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell joined Pearl Jam (sans Cornell at this point) for a rendition their hit “Alive.”

Watch footage of “Hunger Strike” below.
