I don't ever buy into GNR news, but according to the Korean concert/entertainment promoter All Access Entertainment, GUNS N' ROSES will perform at the Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium in Seoul, Korea on December 13.

GUNS N' ROSES' schedule is now shaping up as follows:

Dec. 11 - Taipei, Taiwan - Taipei County Stadium
Dec. 13 - Seoul, Korea - Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium
Dec. 16 - Osaka, Japan - Osaka Dome
Dec. 19 - Tokyo, Japan - Tokyo Dome

No word on their webiste however. (via)

The Golden Age of Hip Hop: Arsenio Hall Tribute

Hip hop in the early 90s was like the WWF in the 80s. If there were rapper action figures back then i probably would have collected them. That's because those guys represented a certain swag and personality that clearly lacks today. The music was fresh, not overly produced, and only those who were talented rose to the top. And now, just like the WWF, a bunch of guys died and we're left with a ton of no-talent ass clowns (for the most part).

I would also have collected an Arsenio Hall action figure if one were made available. Pull a string from its back and it goes "ohhh ohhhh ohhhh." How was that never made? Anyway, check this tribute to Arsenio out. MC Lyte, KRS-One, Naughty by Nature, A Tribe Called Quest, Fu-Schnickens, CL Smooth, Gang Starr, Das EFX, Yo Yo and Wu-Tang Clan.

Album Review: MUTEMATH - "Armistice"

One month after its release, I finally got around to listening to MUTEMATH's sophomore album 'Armistice'. The album kicks ass. A whole ton of ass.

From the first notes of "The Nerve," you realize not much has changed in the MuteMath sound. Singer Paul Meany's vocals still sound a bit like Sting and the band's music is fueled by the frenzied drumming of Darren King. That's not to say they sound much like anyone else. There are hints of an '80s influence as much as hints of Peter Gabriel, Yes, electronic music and a variety of other pieces and parts. You can even find some string work on "Clipping" and horns on the title track. While the first album's songs were somewhat toned-down before being charged up in live performances, the 12 tracks here start out with a good bit of energy and rhythm in them that you can only imagine will get blown out on stage. "Spotlight" found a home on the Twilight soundtrack and shows a good bit of the band's up-tempo abilities. King's work behind the drumkit is something you have to witness to believe – anyone who tapes his headphones to his head so they won't go flying off is sure to flail about when needed. You get a sampling of his abilities on the album, especially when fast and frenzied on "Electrify." They're able to slow down for something more ballad-like with "No Response" and "Pins and Needles," the latter of which reminded me of The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby."

New Music Alert: Chromeo - "Night By Night"

Chromeo is hands down a guilty pleasure of mine. As hard as i headbang, i'll do a little two step twice as hard. This is Dave 1 and P-Thugg's first original track since 2007 and I'm not disappointed because this track is straight up "Eye of the Tiger." The track releases today. Check dates out here for a dance party near you.

sorry, not an official video

Cover Me Badd: Devo - "Head Like a Hole"

Devo, the guys that wore those Playmobile hats and sang Whip It, apparently added their limp wristed spin to NIN's Head Like a Hole a couple years ago. I'm ruling this song out of my iPod (until the 3am drug binge begins. Then it might be perfect).
