An Australian man and his adult daughter went public about their relationship after having a baby together, as new revelations emerged on Monday that a previous child of the couple died a few days after birth.
John Deaves, 61, and his daughter Jenny, 39, have a 9-month-old daughter but have been banned from having sex after a court convicted the pair on two counts of incest, placing them both on a three-year good behavior bond. via ABC News
This weekend John Varvatos opens his long-awaited store at 315 Bowery, the address formerly belonging to punk-rock cradle CBGB. In addition to all of the designer's lines, the shop will sell vinyl records, along with vintage-seventies hi-fi equipment (for said records), and it even retains many of the space's iconic features. (Happily, this does not include the bathrooms.) "We're not reopening CBGB, and we're not trading off the name," Varvatos says. "When the club closed, the choices were it was either going to become a deli or a Bank of America. This way, it's like keeping a piece of history." Toward that end, CBGB's walls remain as they were, stickered and chockablock with graffiti. There's a new, smaller stage for monthly performances from up-and-coming musicians, too. The designer's also launching a limited-edition specialty line, 315 Bowery, to be carried at the store in the fall. "It's intact," he says. "When you're in there, you feel like you're in a club." TAMPA - Police arrested a Lakeland man early this morning on charges that he punched a police horse in the rear end. It should be no surprise the incident occurred about 3:15 a.m. in Ybor City.The Tampa Police Department report said the officer and horse were clearing the street and sidewalks in the 19th Street area of Seventh Avenue.Carl Coward, 24, of 111 Hodges Road, Lakeland, balled his fist and punched the horse in the right rear hip area, the report states. Coward was charged with battery of a law enforcement animal and is being held at the Orient Road Jail on $500 bond, jail records show. The report does not indicate whether the horse suffered any serious injury.

MySpace steps it up a notch by partnering with Universal, Sony BMG and Warner music group to turn their social networking pages into portals for selling music, merchandise and more. This comes after last week's desperation plan by WMG which would bundle a monthly fee into consumers' internet-service bills for unlimited access to music.
MySpace sets the new benchmark in a three-way collaborative deal with the recording industry giants. The service will allow users to download songs, mobile ringtones and provide desktop wallpaper images from the popular social networking site.
On the artists' profile pages, fans will be able to buy tickets for concerts as well as merchandise. The major labels in conjunction with the newly formed MySpace Music have not confirmed what the download service and if there will be a membership cost. MySpace Music said that the new site will be launched in the coming months.

Kuala Lumpur - A Malaysian woman has sued her husband for 3 million ringgit (882,000 dollars) for the loss of her virginity after she claimed that he failed to fulfil his promises of a good marriage, a news report said Friday. The 30-year-old teacher from the eastern state of Sarawak also sought for the court to declare her marriage null and void.
The woman claimed that her husband had persuaded her to have sex with him several months after they first met in 2006, promising to marry her, the New Straits Times daily said. The duo were married several months later, but the woman's in-laws refused to acknowledge the union. In the suit filed in the state High Court, the woman claimed she was duped into her first sexual experience with the promises of a happy marriage, but claimed instead that her husband and in-laws caused her "humiliation and mental torture."The woman's suit is the first of its kind in a marriage, said her lawyer Ernest Chua.
A transgender man who kept his female reproductive organs despite his transformation is now five months pregnant and will appear on Oprah Winfrey's television show, the talk show said on Tuesday.
"I'm a person and I have the right to have my own biological child," Thomas Beatie, of Bend, Oregon, said in excerpts from the show, which airs on Thursday. Beatie and his wife Nancy recount how she was unable to conceive because of a prior hysterectomy, according to the excerpts. "If Nancy could get pregnant, I wouldn't be doing this," Beatie said.
The Hawaii-born Beatie, 34, related his struggles with various doctors along with family and friends in a letter published last week by The Advocate, a magazine for gays. He had chest reconstruction surgery and began taking testosterone, wrote Beatie, who was formerly Tracy Lagondino. Upon deciding to have a child, he halted bimonthly hormone injections and resumed menstruating, then artificially inseminated himself with anonymous donor sperm from a sperm bank. A first attempt failed. "When my brother found out about my loss, he said, 'It's a good thing that happened. Who knows what kind of monster it would have been,'" Beatie recalled. A second attempt was successful, and he expects to deliver a girl around July 3. "Wanting to have a biological child is neither a male nor female desire, but a human desire," Beatie wrote.
